Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcelo Ricigliano and Alejandro Sánchez.
Marcelo, Alejandro, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Founded in 2015 with campuses in the US, Venezuela, and Chile, 4Geeks Academy is a coding school devoted to delivering a premium program experience. What started off as an internal project to train new developers, has now flourished into a full-time passion. 4Geeks Academy is based in the U.S. with programs available in 6 campuses across four cities, and a success rate of over 500 graduates and over 150 hiring partners.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never smooth 🙂 . Alejandro and I (Marcelo) are committed to delivering a premium coding and educational experience. That comes with a price: engaging with our community, funding, legal licenses, growth, shareholders’ interests, etc. However, the vision that we are pursuing (getting people with the skills they need to change their life) is bigger and we are always working towards achieving better outcomes.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 4Geeks Academy story. Tell us more about the business.
Our students are taught how to develop real-life projects similar to the most popular applications out there, master the coding fundamentals and how to apply them to create web applications, and learn an advanced stack of technologies to meet the demands that companies seek. We have part-time programs (16 weeks of 340+ hours) and full-time programs (nine weeks and 380+ hours of instructor-led sessions). Both programs have a dedicated career support team, one-on-one coaching with senior mentors, networking opportunities, and introductions to potential employers. 4Geeks also offers to lifetime memberships: GeekPAL (never code on your own again) and GeekForce (we will help you get hired). Aside from offering part-time courses, what sets 4Geeks Academy apart from competitors is their deferred tuition program, as they are the first coding Bootcamp to offer it locally. This means that students pay no upfront tuition, or a small deposit, and start paying a set tuition amount once they graduate and find employment.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We belong to an industry that combines two powerful factors: Tech + Education. Those are industries that will stay, grow and empower people. Non-traditional institutions are on a mission to close the tech talent gap, help tech companies with the talent they need, and provide a service where everyone is capable to get those skill sets into their profile.
