I was born in Medellin Colombia and came to the United States when I was 19 years old. Following my passion for beauty, I started my education at the Aveda Institute of cosmetology. I always knew that helping people improve their appearance and feel confident about themselves was my calling. When I first heard about microblading, I was immediately intrigued, because eyebrows could be such insecurity for many women especially for those that have lost their hair due to years of over plugging or a medical condition, and this revolutionary way of permanent makeup could give them a permanent and supernatural solution to their insecurities.
After taking permanent makeup classes, I took a leap of faith and rented a retail space in midtown. I was doing 3-4 clients a week and making just enough to pay for the rent, at the same time I had other jobs to support my business, it was a little hard at first since microblading was fairly new and I started w no previous clientele. I promoted myself constantly on social media and started seeing my clientele grow. After a year I was ready for a bigger space and I opened my current location in coral gables, I now have four artists under my supervision and we are doing over 1000 permanent makeup procedures a year making us one of the busiest permanent makeup salons in Florida.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been easy since is a skill that requires time to acquire and is hard to get people to trust you to put a tattoo on the face when you are a beginner, the first months I was just making enough Monday to cover the rent while having to support myself.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Miami Brow Bar – what should we know?
We specialize in all types of permanent makeup procedures such as eyebrows, eyeliner and, lip pigmentation. I take pride in the quality of work I offer every single one of my clients. We are mostly known for eyebrows, specially microblading. We also have an academy where we offer permanent makeup classes.
