Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorin Munro.
Lorin, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started as just someone who just liked to go out all the time and met new people all the time until one day my friend Doug insisted I start promoting. I figured why to continue to pay to go out when I can get paid to go out. This is when I joined the former company I used to work with called SV Marketing back in 2012. After working with the company for four years helping develop a countless amount of successful events, like most things, it ran its course. In September of 2016, I became 1/3 my current company The Link Up alongside Tiedro (@Tee_Diddy) & James (@Chinyman) which was created based on our self-titled event which started at Macaya Gallery. Since then we’ve created several prominent brands (The Link Up & Bad N Boozy just to name a few) that are known throughout Miami as well as a few traveling brands.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur, you will always stumble upon some bumps along the road that can discourage you but there hasn’t been anything that me and my partners couldn’t overcome. Between venues closing down on us the week of an event or natural disasters (hurricanes) making us reschedule events, we always seem to make it happen and satisfy the consumers.

The Link Up deals with event planning and marketing. My particular role in the company is to handle social media marketing as well as managing all playing parts in each event. As a company, in my opinion, we’re most proud of the relationships we’ve built and are building with other event companies in other markets where we can mutually benefit and grow from each other’s brands. What sets us apart from other event companies in Miami is our solid young diverse professional crowd.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Miami is absolutely a good place for our business because Miami is a big destination for out of towners who are always looking for something to do.
