Meet Logan Long

Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Long.

Logan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, I had always liked music. I started freestyling around a middle school in the choir class. Never thought about taking it seriously. It was something I always did for fun. I sent my friend, now my current manager, a freestyle when I was in college and he encouraged me to record. I came home on break. We used his cousin’s mic and began recording freestyles. Eventually, I began dropping them on Soundcloud and my friends really started to like it. That encouraged me to actually record in a real studio, which leads me to Bay 8 studios in Miami, where we recorded two of our first real songs that began gaining traction on Soundcloud as well. I even interned at Bay 8, which lead me to receive a key to my college’s on-campus studio in Pennsylvania. From there, I began to really take music seriously.

Fast forward to the beginning of 2019, I changed my name to jusLo and completely rebranded. I dropped my debut project in March of 2019 called “If You Didn’t Know” and then a couple of singles after that. The biggest of those singles being “Wristwatch,” which most recently was placed on the NBA2k20 Soundtrack. Within the past year, I’ve performed multiple shows in Tallahassee, including some of the most renowned venues across FL. I had the opportunity to perform at Okeechobee Festival this past March before COVID took place, which was an incredible opportunity. Recently, I’ve really grown my Tik Tok following by starting the “3 Word Freestyle Challenge”, there have been some dope opportunities through there as well. I’m excited to see what’s in store for my team and me in the upcoming year!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think one particular struggle stands out more than another. I think being an independent artist is about having a daily dedication towards improvement.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that my whole brand is centered around being myself. My persona is my person. I don’t act like something I’m not. I’m not striving to be like somebody else. I’m focused on just being Lo.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
When my dad would take me to school, he would play his Common CDs in the car. Then I started stealing them, taking them to recess and playing them for my friends on my CD player. I ended up getting in trouble.
