Lex, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
LPMG was founded in 2004, a full-service marketing and promotions company. The plan was never to have one of the most well-respected Promotions & Marketing Company. It was an organic growth, I started of Dj-ing High School and College events, then the next step was to start promoting college events.
From there, with having a pulse on the urban and youth community came the records labels and brands like Russel Simmons rush card who seeks a company that can deliver their message to this target audience.
During the early 2000’s Lex Promotions & Marketing Group was the go-to company for major record labels like Def Jam Records, Atlantic Records, and movie companies, energy drinks, and clothing lines who wanted to capture the attention of the urban youths and increase company revenue.
By 2010’s LPMG was now a stakeholder in brand partnerships. When major brands seeked to have visibility with celebrities, or their product placed in music videos, photoshoots or in the mix with top influencer LPMG has provided the creative solutions.
In more recent years, while still balancing the entertainment industry marketing and brand partnerships LPMG has grown to working with local government agencies on large community events and supporting nonprofit organizations that focus on supporting entrepreneurship and health initiatives. In addition, LPMG has the largest inventory of Mobile Billboard Trucks on the East Coast of Florida covering events like Super Bowl, Essence Festival and working with all industries.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a small business owner is never easy. No matter what industry you’re in, two of the biggest challenges in any business are the following. #1 Cash Flow & Managing the books. Learning the true definition of running a business, P & L’s, taxes is a daily learning process. The second challenge is staffing and building the right team. As a business owner, you’ll have to fire some people, hire more people and train people, in addition, to promote the right people within your company. But once you understand these two points, you’re golden and off to profits and making clients happy.

What makes LPMG Different from other companies is our staff. We are the target demographic 18-34, we understand how to deliver messages to our demographic. We balance corporate American with the urban millennials expressing marketing campaigns in organic ways.
Over the years, I’ve worked with various clients from the Fast Food industry, Liquor Companies, Clothing lines and more. But two recent projects that have shaken the industry have been the work that we have done for clients Rick Ross & Severing Brand’s Luc Belaire Rose. Glad to be part of history introducing this product to so many celebrities, and placing it in so many music videos, and creating brand awareness on a national level. Another project I’m happy to be a part of is Dj Khaled & E Class “The Licking” restaurants franchise, helping in the marketing efforts to make it a destination location in South Florida.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
For my company I don’t think luck has much to do with it, rather it is timing. You have to plan to be at the right locations, meetings, conferences, etc. at the right time to make the business connection. I plan on being at the right conferences, to meet the right people. I reach out to these colleagues prior to conferences and events. So when I meet them, and we discuss business, they have already heard about my company; it’s far from luck. It’s years of hard work and planning for that day.
