Today we’d like to introduce you to Lenisse Komatsu.
Lenisse, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. I am the oldest of 3 children. I graduated in Graphic Design, and at age 23, I moved to the USA to experience a new culture and language – Quickly, I was back in working in the Web Design field, but always passionate on everything related to art and photography.
A little before I had my son nine years ago, I bought my first professional DSLR and fell in love! He changed every day, and the best way to document these changes was to capture them in a photograph. I haven’t put my camera down since and put aside my Wed Design job. Now, I feel complete and so honored to be photographing other people’s enjoyable moments and helping them document their own memories.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I, never in a million years did I think I would be shooting weddings for a living! This job has been such a blessing and equally challenging, but I’d never change it for the world! Starting a business is a big achievement for many entrepreneurs, but maintaining one is the larger challenge, and I am so glad to be on the right path!
Also, challenging locations, challenging light, personalities, timetables, and high expectations are all part of being a wedding photographer. Amidst all of that, it can be a challenge to direct groups of people, be in multiple places at nearly one time to capture real events as they happen whilst maintaining a superb and creative quality and aesthetic to your work. That’s the number one driving force behind why I create timeless photographs – it’s a challenge. It’s immensely fun. It’s so rewarding.

I’m a Florida-based wedding photographer, who adored capturing authentic emotions and candid moments through stunning imagery. My style is very natural and documentary. Meeting new people and connecting with others are a few of my favorite things. I believe that professionalism, creativity, and passion all together make a unique experience for my couples!
What were you like growing up?
I LOVE to draw!!! I’ve been Passionist of art since I was a little girl!!! Paint, pencil colors, papers… was my “toys”!!!!! I am so grateful to be able to apply all this in my Adulthood!
