Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurent Robinson.
Laurent, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I played in the NFL for 6 years with the Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Throughout my career I was hit hard by the injury bug ending 3 of my 6 seasons on injured reserve. I learned that I needed to find alternative ways to stay healthy and to keep my body in prime condition. Through my past experiences and discoveries, the idea of Optimal Cryo & Wellness came to fruition. I had many different modalities at home and knew that if they treatments were helping me compete at the highest level, then they can definitely help the average person.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening my first business had its many obstacles. The main issue I had was the long process of permitting. I had no idea the process and the countless trips to and from the city. All the stress and anxiety I had about starting my own business and hiring employees soon went away once we opened. There is a sense of relief once I had all the documentation in place to open, but then more issues and kinks to work out came when the doors finally opened. I treat everyday like a learning experience of how to better serve our clients and motivate our employees while creating an enjoyable/comfortable atmosphere.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
After graduating from the University of Miami with my MBA, I realized how leverage can be beneficial in real estate. I was so stuck in my ways of “I don’t want to have any debt,” but in school I learned how helpful leverage can be. Instead of using my own money to fund the initial start up costs, I would have used a form a leverage to take some of the financial risks of myself.
