Today we’d like to introduce you to Laine Schmidt.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Three years ago, I knew it was time for a career shift. I had two young boys and while I loved working in education, I knew I wanted something that offered more flexibility. My husband had hired a professional coach and I saw how impactful that was for him in his work. I have always appreciated intentional living and having objective sources in our lives to help us process direction and challenges. After looking into what it meant to be a well-trained and credentialed coach, I decided to take the leap. After attending a 6-month coach training academy, learning the ins and outs of starting a business, and deciphering my niche, I launched Laine Schmidt Coaching in July 2016, with the mission of coming alongside professionals to help them reach their goals and see their visions come to life. Three things happened that I had not anticipated: 1. The demand was much higher than I thought it would be. By 2018, I hired five additional coaches to join the LSC team. 2. I learned that I love entrepreneurship. Both of my parents were entrepreneurs… I must have picked up more from them than I realized. 3. Connecting and resourcing others is a passion I didn’t know I had and it has become a huge component of LSC.
In August of 2018, we launched The Business Lab, which was a live, monthly networking event for professionals in South Florida. This year, we are moving into the digital arena and will be launching The Business Lab podcast in the spring. In helping people expand their professional network, and providing them with wisdom and resources, we strive to see the healthy and productive growth of our community. We have partnered with other networking organizations, colleges, and companies. Through speaking engagements, podcasting, and interviews, it has been a joy to connect with people locally, and around the world.
In the last year, we have grown to have clients nationwide. It’s a true honor to partner with people on their road to success. We offer individual coaching and team coaching. Our clients are eager for growth; some of our most requested coaching topics are: time optimization, work/life balance, growth strategy, organizational strategy, and culture building. We are so proud of our clients and the success they have seen!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like anything new, there have been bumps. I’m very lucky to have many mentors in my life who have helped guide me through big decisions. There have been struggles: learning how and what to delegate, setting up boundaries with clients, guarding “non-working” time… and all the things that come along with a growing business. The struggles have all offered great moments of learning and I’m grateful for that.
Laine Schmidt Coaching – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What we do: We partner with individuals and teams to help them destroy obstacles so they can have healthy growth and change in their work. Oftentimes this requires habit changing, and many times it requires shifting perspective. We customize coaching plans based on the needs of the client. Many of our clients meet with their coach weekly, some are bi-weekly and our team coaching is structured in a way that offers in-depth assessment and planning so there is a better chance for sustainable change.

We work with all types of professionals: sales teams, doctors, business owners, budding entrepreneurs… anyone who is eager.
What we are most proud of as a brand:
We are proud of the fact that we have a 95% client return rate. This shows us that our coaches are investing in our clients in a transformative way.
What sets us apart:
Our coaches don’t see a partnership as limited to the walls of a session. We commit to our clients fully – we guide them, promote them, resource them and advocate for them and they know that no matter what is going on in their work/lives, they can count on their coach.
Do you feel like there are certain traits that increase the likelihood of success?
What we have seen with our clients, is that to be successful, one must enjoy what they are doing, be willing to invest in it and be focused, teachable and honest. We must be outward- focused and care for those we serve.
