Meet Kristine Ferradas Reyes and Allie Carvajal of Savvy and Sole Mate in Coral Gables

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristine Ferradas Reyes and Allie Carvajal.

Kristine and Allie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Savvy has been a go to shopping destination since we opened in 2006. With a carefully curated selection of local and international lines, Savvy cares about providing our customers with the best quality and products and exceptional customer service.

Savvy is located directly next to our sister store Sole Mate Boutique and we find that the majority of our customers shop for a complete look, so we have our team style each outfit with shoes, bags & accessories. We thrive on creating a unique and personalized shopping experience for each customer.

We are very proud of what we have built over the last 12 years and know that our success in the retail world is due to our customer service, consistency, loyalty and genuine love for what we do.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening the store at the age of 21 was both challenging and rewarding. I opened 6 days a week as my sole employee. I am a firm believer in life you reap what you sew. It was hard work but definitely worth the sacrifice. We still have most of the same customers I did when I opened my doors.

Four years after I partnered up with my best friend Allie and she opened Sole Mate. The same year I met my Jenny the SAVVY manager and my right hand. The face of our store and our model Melody came on board shortly after and now 12 years later I get to work everyday with some of the most amazing, creative, hardworking and loving girls I know!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Savvy and Sole Mate – what should we know?
We carefully consider the aesthetic and style of each brand and how the reception from our customers will be when deciding who to carry.

We also have our own private label brand named SAVVY which sets us apart from other boutiques. We do anything from our signature wrap skirts, silk evening dresses, to customized bridesmaid dresses. This way we can guarantee one of a kind unique pieces to our customers.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Savvy is more than just a business. So much time of our lives is spent here that it has become part of our family. We have the best team and Allie and I are truly blessed to work with some of the best hearts in the world. We have all become the best of friends and work so well as a team. Melody De la Fe our stunning model has modeled with us for 7 years and is in charge of all our social media content, Jennifer Del Toro is the manager of Savvy and is very involved with me in all the SAVVY private labeling brand.
