Kayla, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started one day, my Auntie Tan called me and told me she had something for me to do. She came and got me and showed me the idea she had for me. We went to the stores to get what I needed. The next day I practiced the candle and it came out good for it to be my first try. So after that, I practiced a book and it also came out good. So I posted the candles and the books on my Instagram page. I had to figure out how I was going to get candles in for when orders started coming in.
My Auntie Fatgirl ordered the candles for me so I can get my business started. My mom also ordered candles for me and brought me the books and supplies I needed for my business.My uncle Jerome was the first customer to buy a picture candle from me. Ever since I started doing the picture candles, my business grew a lot. To where my business today, I want to say it grew a lot from when I first started. I will like to thank My mom, aunties, a family that’s in prison, and my friend staria for the motivation and the support for my business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It have been a smooth road only thing that was a struggle was finding the candles I actually needed.

I make pictures of candles and books. I’m known for my picture candles. I’m proud of everything about my business. What sets me apart from others is everything I sell is handmade.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan for the future is to continue with my business and have my own shop for my business.
