Meet Katherine Bracamonte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Bracamonte.

Katherine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since I was little, I always knew that I have an artistic side of me. I loved painting pictures; in fact, at 16 years old in High school, I did my first art exhibition with more than 12 works. Even though when I grew up, I choose a different path with my career (I studied dentistry for three years in my home country Venezuela). My family decided to move to the United States due to the situation in there.

This decision made me put all my feelings aside to come to this country, and that’s where I realized that without knowing what I was going to face, I knew what I wanted to find what I was passionate about and grow in it. And this is when my career as a makeup artist began.

I started working at a kiosk selling makeup on commission for two years, then I worked as a freelancer for Anastasia Beverly Hills for six months until Sephora opened the doors for me. Starting as a color consultant, two years later, not only I got my esthetician license but also I became the Senior Artist able to help not only the store where I worked but the district as well. This decision changed my life completely. I’m currently working with photographers, agencies, events such as weddings and runways doing what I love, ART.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely wasn’t, firstly moving to a new country and starting from scratch is not easy at all; secondly, realizing what you really want to do and then fighting for it, I think it is the most difficult thing to achieve. The rest with perseverance and effort is being achieved little by little.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I specialize in events and photography more than anything, events such as weddings, quinces, maternity photoshoot, among others. What makes me feel proud of what I do, I would say, is the passion, commitment and perfection when doing my work, beyond making a makeup is understanding the vision that the client wants and making it come true.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I would say, I had the opportunity to participate in the Loui Vuitton fashion show “Resort 2020” a year ago; it was an amazing experience to my career. Thanks to my mentor Ilde Goncalves, a PRO Makeup Artist. Who gave me the opportunity to be part of this important event.
