Meet Karoline Glausier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karoline Glausier.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always had a creative spirit, for a long time I expressed that through music, writing songs, and I dabbled in photography. As I got older and life got more and more cluttered with life things, I noticed that my creative side was something that quickly went to the back burner. A few years ago, a friend of mine was wanting to start a photography business and asked me if I would want to join her to make some extra money and I agreed. This offer came at a time in my life when everything seemed especially cluttered and messy. I remember going on our first shoot and that creative fire in me felt reignited. I remember having this moment of feeling so much joy, almost like being reunited with an old friend. Sadly, that business didn’t last but I knew I didn’t want to shove this love, I had been reunited with again, back in that old corner of my heart. So, I decided to step out on a limb and start my own business.

Please tell us about your art.
I’m really obsessed with people and the way they experience the world. I feel like true connection with people is becoming more and more rare. One thing I get to do with my photography is creating that connection with people for a brief moment and also being able to have this organic and vulnerable moment with one another, even if we just met moments before. I think the thing I hope people take away from my photography is, weather you are one of my clients, or someone who just stumbled upon my work through social media or found my website, is that you feel that my work is authentic and you feel encouraged. I want each of my clients to walk away from a shoot feeling like a million bucks and that they are beautiful in their own skin. If I accomplish that I’m successful in my mind.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I feel like we are pushed towards this idea that it has to be “me against you” and I think that that is a really quick way to isolate yourself and feel extremely alone. This is especially true, when you are in a field that is extremely competitive. A lot of pressure is taken off of your shoulders in the artistic community, when we work together to achieve our goals. Instead of seeing everything we do as competition, we can work together to make ourselves better.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I think the easiest way is through my Instagram but I am on Facebook and I also have a pretty great website my husband designed! Its anchorphotography.org and my Instagram and Facebook are anchor photography nola.
