So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started doing hair in North Carolina ten years ago. In the summer of 2018, my family and I relocated to South Florida where I was able to grow and expand my business as a color specialist. Now, I work out of a private suite in east Boca, with plans to open a full salon by the end of the year.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! Relocating to a new area where I didn’t know anyone was the largest hurdle I’ve had to overcome as a business owner. Completely leaving everything I knew to try to rebuild in South Florida was terrifying, but definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hair By Kait – what should we know?
I’m definitely known for being an unconventional hair artist! I love creating vibrant hair colors with all the colors of the rainbow. Clients come to me for their vibrant hair colors, because they know I’ll take the time to make it flawless, and send them home with Pinterest-worthy hair.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Creativity, hands down. I believe in taking risks with my art, pushing boundaries, and never becoming stagnant. Doing things to keep my creativity flowing is essential.
