Meet Juladie Ibañez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juladie Ibañez.

Juladie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Its been 84 years… I’m kidding, clearly, lol. It all started when my son was born. I had been gifted a DSLR camera to start on a hobby I was interested in. Exactly a year later, my son made his appearance on Earth. I refused to hire a newborn photographer. I was certain that “it wouldn’t be that difficult to take his newborn pictures.” From that day forth, my respect for newborn photographers was born.

In the course of his growth, I was able to see my growth in my newfound hobby. It was when I posted his first birthday pictures on Facebook that another human asked if I was interested in taking pictures of their children. And there it began. That’s when I pushed myself into making this, now career, more than just a hobby.

Glad to say, things have changed very much since then. Since 2012, there have been endless amounts of workshops, tutorials, research and meeting amazing photographers along the way who have provided endless education, direction, opportunities and advice, I am now a full-time wedding and lifestyle photographer.

Has it been a smooth road?
A smooth road!? Anything but that. I can now call it a sweet journey when I look back at the last seven years. I’m my own worst critic. That has its pros and its’ cons. I push myself to limits to achieve growth. Not everyone in the field is willing to help, teach. That can be tough when you’re only looking to learn.

Equipment is EXPENSIVE. Very expensive. I’m certain that I’ll forever be in debt to Canon. ( I shoot Canon, duh). Building creditability can take a lot of time. A l o t o f t i m e. Same goes for clientele. Running a business alone is a lot like being a one-man-band. Ever tried to play the harmonica and the flute simultaneously? Exactly!

Like everything else, though. Good things take work and time.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a wedding, lifestyle and destination photographer. Mostly wedding and lifestyle photography with a few destinations notches under my belt. I hear my work is quite recognizable. The larger majority of my shots are candid. Humans are typically laughing in most of my work.

After years of trying to figure out my niche, my style, my look and what I wanted to focus on, I can proudly say that I’ve achieved it. I love photography. I love what I do. I love the feeling of being able to reach humans with my humor and hearing their laughter and seeing their smiles. It really makes me happy and its something I wholeheartedly enjoy. I love the reality that comes with my brand. There’s no black and white. It’s all real life. Even as a company, I’m still a human being and I make sure that all of my clients are both aware of that as well as comfortable with it before we get to working together. I like to make sure that my clients and I vibe on all levels. It’s important in order to create the work that I like to create- real raw art.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My creativity; Being able to think outside the box and the ability to showcase what makes each couple or family story theirs. Without that, it would just be repetitive work, right?
