Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Vasquez.
Juan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
WG Studios was created in 1998 as an internet Communications Company specialized on services similar to what Skype or Whatsapp are today. The only difference is that our service required users to have a computer with speakers and microphone. (Not very common at that moment.) The service we offered was a “Push to talk button” on your website. When a visitor presses the button an internet call will be generated and the website owner receives the call on their phone. The idea was great, everyone loves it, but the timing was wrong. At that time, almost no one had computers with speakers and microphone. It was also hard to find companies with websites, and that’s what we discover. Every one we tried to sell the buttons asked if we could develop a website for them, and in order to sell the buttons, we had to build the websites. After a while we realized people wanted websites, not buttons, so we dedicated all our efforts to make the best websites you can get. The timing was perfect, the .coms were growing like crazy and there were unlimited budgets. We grew a lot for few years. After the .coms crash, 90% of the internet development companies went down, only a few survived. We started to grow again thanks to the lack of competition. Today, with almost two decades on the market we can say we have seen it all. We have built more than 500 websites for tiny, small, medium and huge companies.
Has it been a smooth road?
The times have changed. Simple websites are easy to build. Tools have changed a lot too. The technologies change so fast that sometimes it seems impossible to catch up with trends and technologies. We have now many more devices to test that we have before. Now we have to worry not only about computer operating systems like Windows, Mac, Linux, etc. but also mobile devices, phones, tablets, Android, Apple, etc. The spectrum is way wider than it used to be.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the WG Studios story. Tell us more about the business.
Although I studied Commercial Aviation and International Business Administration overseas, I always had a passion for design and photography. I learned most of the things I do by myself, I’m always studying.
At WG I’m the “Captain in Command” as we say in aviation. I try to do the things the way we do in aviation: Do it right the first time. I tell my team, “Pretend that if you don’t do it right, people will die.” I am also the head photographer. We shoot here in our own 2000 SF studio and also on location.
We are known for having a great design taste, excellent quality, and superb customer service.
We are not the typical web site design studio. Our priorities are based on doing great work, treating people really well, and exceeding our client’s expectations. Our creative team truly believes in what they do, you will get the best, no matter what the budget is.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
This industry is changing so fast that is hard to tell. In only 2 or 3 years most of the internet traffic switched from computers to mobile devices. I think this trend will continue and mobile devices are going to be a huge part of the traffic. I wish I had a crystal ball and see what is coming. I will make myself billionaire on the spot.
