Today we’d like to introduce you to John Ludwig.
John, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
TekPartners Solutions was established in 2002 with a focus on helping organizations achieve their business missions with Technology Staffing and Solutions. We are a full-service organization with the ability to offer consulting, staff augmentation, recruitment and human capital solutions to our clients. We provide our clients with the ability to identify, screen, select and hire the best and most qualified talent available within today’s marketplace. With over 30 years of professional service experience and knowledge, TekPartners focuses in the areas of contract, staff augmentation, direct hire and a contract-to-hire service offering, which helps TekPartners provide world-class service to its clients and candidates.
I joined TekPartners as an Account Manager in November of 2011 and quickly rose to become the company’s top producer. After only 3 years of servicing our largest and most critical clients in South Florida with top technical talent, I was promoted to Vice President to oversee all IT workforce service offerings to our clients and consultants in the South Florida Market. I became responsible for the hiring and supervision of a team of account managers, recruiters and other staff, in addition to being held accountable for training and career development of team members. I hold this position today and have grown our revenue in the South Florida market from $35 million annually in 2015 to just under $50 million annually in 2017. We continue to grow and expand our market share by being trust partners to our clients and candidates throughout South Florida.
I grew up at the Jersey Shore, spent 3 years living in Germany during my high school years and graduated with a Bachelors’ degree in International Business from Mt. St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD.
I live in Fort Lauderdale with my wonderful wife, Robin and our 9-year-old daughter, Zara. Zara attends Sea Star Waldorf School in Boca Raton.
Has it been a smooth road?
There are always challenges with anything worth while. There were many challenges with building a business, but honestly the biggest challenges in my life were with fatherhood and making the right decisions for my daughter.
It’s a challenge raising a child this day in age. That is one of the reasons we sent her to Sea Star, a Waldorf school, in Boca Raton for her elementary schooling. There is no technology in the classrooms, but rather a comprehensive and holistic approach to education and the children’s growth as humans. Running a technology-centric firm and sending my child to a Waldorf School seems counter-intuitive, but actually it’s extremely common among the “Technology Elites” in Silicon Valley. There is a time when technology can supplement the education process, but it should not happen for the first several years of schooling.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
South Florida and specifically the Miami/Fort Lauderdale metro area, is absolutely perfect for both small and large businesses. We have the infrastructure to support massive corporations and the lack of state tax makes the area ripe for small and mid-market ventures. The talent pool for organizations, especially in IT/technology, is very robust as well.
