Has it been a smooth road? Being a physician always has its challenges.
As we develop novel surgical techniques in the management of gynecologic cancers, we need to validate these new techniques and then share our experiences with our fellow surgeons.
Some of the techniques I helped pioneer, included fertility-sparing surgery for cervical cancer and sentinel lymph node mapping for gynecologic malignancies. We need to study these techniques and publish our work in order to share our experience with our colleagues. Today, both of these techniques are now considered standard of care.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Miami Cancer Institute – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others. At the Miami Cancer Institute, we pride ourselves on providing world class cancer treatment in South Florida.
Our partnership with Memorial Sloan-Kettering has let us provide a robust clinical trials program. This allows patients in South Florida access to novel therapies without having to travel to New York or Houston for these clinical trial opportunities.
As the lead physician for the clinical trials program we have created an option for novel agents and surgical techniques for the management of gynecologic cancers.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least? Born and reared in Miami, I love this city. Miami is my home and I am proud to be able to bring the latest breakthroughs in cancer treatment to women of South Florida.
When I returned to Miami from NY’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering, I knew we could improve the care of patients with cancer. The Miami Cancer Institute is providing that opportunity.
