Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamara Brooks-Parmer.
Jamara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Family is the Foundation of Uniqly Made. I, Jamara Brooks-Parmer, a full-time Mother & Wife founded Uniqly Made on April 2, 2019, with a mission to maximize the quality of life to families with different abilities or special health care needs, through education, community outreach and empowerment.
I wanted to be the voice in my community and stand strong in the gap for families going through the motions of caring for loved ones and or themselves. Going through the experience herself while caring for her nine-year-old daughter Jahmya who was born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) pulmonary atresia and now has significant progressive lung disease, airway compression, pulmonary stenosis and pulmonary regurgitation it was hard. I didn’t have the opportunity to talk to parents or other individuals that were going through similar situations.
I didn’t have the support outside of family members that really don’t understand my day to day besides my husband who’s been by my side from day one. All I had was my thoughts, feelings and emotions all bottled up inside my mind and various of journeys where I wrote down everything. So being able to start a business where I could offer support to families and be an advocate in my very own community means so much to me.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
So far I have been making great connections within my community by attending various events and networking through local hospitals and Pediatric Prescribed Extensive Care Facilities (PPEC). Despite the connections, we do face some road blocks due to sine families not being fully comfortable with sharing their journey. I would say being in denial because yes, I was once that MOTHER.
We’d love to hear more about your organization.

I am most proud of the many connections that I have made with families. Being able to join in on many families’ journeys and share our stories as we navigate the smiles and struggles of raising children with unique abilities and still be able to take care ourselves. Our goal is to reassure families that, “THEY ARE NOT ALONE “
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was the 3rd child out of four. I lived in a single-parent home, but my dad was and still is in my life. Growing up with my mom and sisters, we were fortunate to be exposed to things and live a comfortable life. I was always outgoing. My mom exemplified nothing but the best and I strongly believe that is definitely why I am the woman and mother I am today.
I lost my mom in 2013, and that was devastation. My mom was my everything. She was my #1 supporter through everything I had gone through once giving birth to my twins Jahmari and Jahmya. Due to all the medical miracles, Jahmya faced, my mom was there her first two years of life. I am a Loyal, dependable, determined and overall bomb ass Family oriented person.
