Today we’d like to introduce you to Ingrid Golding.
Ingrid, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am originally from the Island of Jamaica and migrated to Florida eleven years ago.
I attended Florida College of Natural Health where I gained an Associate of Science in Clinical Esthetics in 2010. I remained at FCNH for an addition two and a half years as a teacher assistant and then I was offered the position of Basic Skincare Instructor.
Because I love to take care of people and enjoy helping them to feel relaxed and confident, I got back into the service aspect of my Industry and worked for European Wax Center over two years which allowed me the confidence that I needed to start my own business that I was longing for. I enjoyed my time there but missed doing facials, so out of that came my idea to create Gentle Waxing. Why Gentle Waxing? I was always told by my previous clients that I was so gentle so in 2014 I felt it was only appropriate to name my business that.
I took the experiences that I gained from Sandals Negril Spa in Jamaica, Lancôme beauty counter in the Broward Mall, and the amazing experiences that I have gained working with the originators of hard wax, Cirepil by Perron Rigot as an Ambassador and started working on my brand.
I believe in giving each and every client of mine, not just a service but always a great experience. I have been an Esthetician for twenty years and have loved every day that I get to live my passion.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a business is never easy, you have to put a lot of time and be totally dedicated to get things done the right way. From the name you choose to the best location, licenses etc. It is a lot of work. Finances can be a problem especially if you cannot get a loan or have funds to keep you going while the business is growing. I had doubts a year into my business. I was not sure if I really had thick enough skin to continue. I cried, got very frustrated at times but thanked God for the encouragement I got from my husband, family and friends who believe in my abilities and know my passion, I am still going.
You have to ask questions and get help.
We have a saying in Jamaica; no man is an Island (you cannot do it all by yourself).
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Gentle Waxing – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Gentle Waxing LLC specialize in full body waxing for both male and female clients as well as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, acne treatments, anti-aging and also customized facial treatments.
I am known as the gentle waxing pro. I have waxed teenagers with unibrows who thinks that that is the coolest thing that they have seen. Wax on hairs off.
I am very proud of the fact that I have been able to start my business and survive for the time I have without too much debt and keep my door open.
I give my clients an experience every time they come in for their appointments. They are never rushed, and are taken care of as an individual, not just the next client scheduled.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am putting together plans to duplicate Gentle Waxing but that will take some time to perfect the brand.
