Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Stein.
Heather, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The first time I picked up a camera, I was a new mom, but my love of photography started long before then. My family was always taking photos and those little 4×6 prints are something I’ve always treasured so much. A few years ago, after moving back to Florida, I decide to take a few years off work as a medical assistant while my son headed into middle school. I was soon spending all my free time with my camera and decided it would make sense for me to persue photography as a career. Stepping out of a traditional corporate job has given me the ability to decide for myself how much I want to dedicate to work or other activities. It’s allowed me to volunteer in the special needs community- with Buddy Break (https://www.nathanielshope.org/our-programs/buddy-break/) and Night to Shine (https://www.timtebowfoundation.org/ministries/night-to-shine). Being self-employed has also allowed me to be involved in short term missions to Mexico and Jamaica. I believe we are all called to serve one another, and owning my own photography business lets me do just that!
Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve been fortunate to be in a position where I am able to move at my own pace when it comes to business. Being a creative mind, however, the business side of things does not come naturally to me. So that has been a challenge, but thankfully, there are many resources available to entrepreneurs and I have an amazing support system.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Fera Rosa Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
My favorite thing about photography is that I can share the beauty that I see all around me with others. That being said, I will photograph just about anything! I love to photograph wildlife and nature, especially birds prints can be found at The Marketplace Bulk Food and more in Sebastian).
My main focus, however, is family and portrait photography. I love to capture the relationships between people and to help others realize just how beautiful they are. It is so important that we take time to appreciate who we are, where we are right now and remember these times as we grow. My hope is that I can bring a little bit of joy to someone’s life through my work.
