Today we’d like to introduce you to Gustavo Sanchez and Carlos Pierucci.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Gustavo and Carlos. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started with an idea; the idea to become independent creative filmmakers. Our vision had always included working with the best and most creative people we could find. In 2011 we joined forces, left our jobs and went out in the open field as Neko, the name of our production company. ¨Neko¨means cat in Japanese. its an abbreviation of the Maneki Neko, the classic Japenese symbol of prosperity.
As time went by we were lucky enough to have worked with clients whom we had always admired; Netflix, Discovery Networks, and Pepsi, just to mention a few. We also take the time to make our own personal projects that include short films that had been recognized in film festival around the world.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? No, not really. The political landscape of our country, Venezuela-where it all started- was not the most gracious. Without getting too much into politics; the main reason we made the effort to set headquarters in Miami was the regime. It’s hard for a production studio to blossom under a dictatorship.
So yeah, it hasn’t been smooth.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Neko Studio – what should we know?
Neko focuses on video production as a whole, but our specialization /what we are most known for is Animation(motion graphics, 2D, 3D) and live action. What sets us apart from others? That’s a tough question to answer, we feel that everyone is unique, but something we really like about our modus operandi is that we take part in every step of our work, not because we are tedious, but we because we really love the process, it’s our passion.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Well, it’s a big list, but whom we are most thankful for is our creative team. We really work alongside some amazing creatives who inspire us to be better and make better things. Also, honorable mention to all of our clients, who have trusted our crazy ideas and have let us give birth to some of the coolest projects a creative could hope to work on.
