Meet Orion Nevel of Gryph & IvyRose in Little Haiti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Orion Nevel.

Orion, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was raised in a very alternative medicine centric household. My mom is a massage therapist and my dad is an acupuncturist. Growing up, I saw a lot of different methods to stay healthy beyond just my parents professions. Everything from food as medicine to meditation my parents were on a mission, looking back it was a lot of fun and educational. Those experiences grew into a passion as an adult led me to own and operate a medicinal herbal apothecary called Orion Herbs for 20 plus years. During that time, I saw a lot of the transformational effects herbs can have on a person’s life. That really drove me to want to touch a broader group of people. I met my business partners Rachel Finger & Karolina Kurkova at the apothecary while they were on their own wellness journeys as parents. We got together and started talking about different ways we could touch more lives with the power of herbs and natural products. Through those conversations, Gryph & IvyRose was born, and we are all very proud of the company.

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a new company is always a challenge. Our goal with Gryph & IvyRose is to set the next generation down a path to wellness through natural means. We really want to empower parents and give them the tools to keep their children happy and healthy. That is why we offer three different categories of products, Bath & Body, Probiotics, and Herbal Elixirs. The real challenge is to connect with as many families as possible and you can be in only one place at a time, so we stay focused and know it is a long road.

Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
We are a health and wellness company for the whole family. We focus on the children, but we do offer a few products for moms and dads. We have three categories we focus on Bath & Body, Probiotics, and Herbal Elixirs. One of our best sellers is our Probiotic Chocolate Hearts. They are USDA certified Organic, have natural prebiotics, have only 1 gram of coconut sugar per serving, and are delicious! Kids and parents love them so much we introduced a higher potency adult version that won the best new wellness product at NY Now! We really focus on being innovative with our products, and that comes through in a number of ways, all of our Bath & Body products have 20-30x the industry standards of botanicals, all our Herbal Elixirs are the third party tested for purity and are labeled with paper made from rocks as opposed to plants. All of our probiotics are USDA certified organic, are delicious, and low in sugar.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see natural products, especially in the kid’s space, to become the standard. Consumers are tired of being exposed to dangerous chemicals every time they open a bottle of shampoo or bubble bath. As millennials take over as the parents of the USA, they are more interested in buying from smaller companies led by individuals they can know and trust. We all want to click on the about page of a company and see human faces as opposed to just mission statements.
