Today we’d like to introduce you to George Arango.
George, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As many relationships begin, you venture out to eat A LOT. When my girlfriend and I began dating, I was posting pictures of food from the restaurants we were going to on my Snapchat. One day after a night out, I received multiple messages asking me where the food was from, what to get, and how was everything. Right then and there, I decided to create a place to promote these places to my friends and all individuals.
In April of 2016, I began Mr.Eats305 with the idea to help guys discover cool new places in Miami to go on dates or just to casually go eat. After a few posts, I realized my audience was quickly becoming majority female. Thus, I decided not to limit my audience and help everyone in finding new places around Miami. From 2016-2017, Mr.Eats305 grew slowly as I would post casually. It was not until the end of 2017 that I realized the effect Mr.Eats305 can have on people.
I saw the power of an influencer and how it helps people find great places and help businesses around the city. I realized that through social media I can help businesses gain exposure and reach individuals through my platform. With a new found passion, in January of 2018, I set a few goals I wanted to accomplish with Mr.Eats305.
Little by little, it started to grow as I continued to stay consistent, do different things, and go to other places that other influencers or bloggers were not going to. Doing this throughout the year helped it grow into what it is today. With 2019 here, I am excited to see what the new year has in store, and I hope to continue helping individuals and restaurants around Miami.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like I said before, for the first year or two I would post casually without seeing the little impact that it would have. It made it seem kind of dumb at first. However, I stayed optimistic and was still going to all these different places, so it did not stop me from posting.
I have spoken with other influencers or individuals who just started their blog, or they wanted to start a blog and have given them that advice. Stay optimistic and stay consistent.
Keep doing your thing because sometimes the motivation to continue may dwindle down but staying consistent and continuing to post and venture out will only make your brand stronger. Even if your followers grow at the slowest rate ever, staying consistent will gain the trust and relationship with the followers you do have.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about @Mr.Eats305 – what should we know?
Mr.Eats305 is a foodie, influencer, blogger, and Miami native. I cover food from mostly the Miami area with the occasional post from other South Florida locations or other places when I travel. I also try not to limit myself just to food with occasional posts about events, cocktails, bars, and other activities happening in the 305.
I am not sure if I am known exactly for something specific, besides posting really good food, but I would love to know what my followers think about that question. I am most proud of being able to help the small restaurant in Miami grow and watch their success over time.
I am also filled with pride and joy every time one of my followers says they went to a restaurant solely because I posted about it and loved it. What sets me apart from others is possibly the fact that I am a guy. I have noticed there are less guy influencers/bloggers. Having a guys perspective a restaurant is definitely different than the norm in this industry.
How do you define success?
Success for me is getting individuals out to restaurants that I am posting about because the image I posted looked so good through the phone. Success isn’t the amount of followers I have reached but just the amount of stomachs filled because of food and restaurants I recommended. Like I said before, I am filled with pride and joy every time one of my followers says they went to a restaurant solely because I posted about it and loved it.
