Meet Galit Garzon of www.galascanvas.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Galit Garzon.

Galit, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Galit Garzon and I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to do things in different ways. For example, back in school I could not get creative assignments done by following the guidelines, so in order to pass my classes I had to stay in a regular state of mind where I was not able to show what I was capable to do.

when I graduate from high school, I came to the states to pursue a degree in fashion design, but again, they asked me to stay inside the box, I could not do anything innovative, I did not have any motivation to still be in a career where I needed to base my designs on other fashion masterminds. I have always said that in a world where everything exist, we must take the ordinary into the extraordinary, and I knew that staying in the comfort zone it would not take me where I wanted to go. Afterwards, I changed my major to Fine Arts. I was not sure what I was going to do, but certainly, that was my right path. After a year of doing introspection and having hurtful feedbacks about my ideas, my fascination for every single detail in life was born, so I took a camera and start shooting everything. It started as a hobby but then it became a beautiful obsession where I wanted to show my perspective of life itself from where I stand.

My subject is society in all its ways, focusing primarily on the human silhouette. This project is called The Human Canvas, The process for creating the pieces includes several different methods and steps from start to finish. From painting over the subjects’ body to adding textured elements on the actual surface of the work. Later, I decided to go beyond what I could see and started to play with the emotions. If you go to my portals (Instagram and web page) you will feel what I mean by that. My art is an invitation for all the generations into the evolutionary art itself. There is no wrong or right, beautiful or ugly… but there is honesty behind my messages. I am a contemporary avant-garde artist expressing from the heart.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was not easy at the beginning. There were many obstacles and people that did take me out of my paths. When I started to paint the human bodies and photographed them, I did not know what was my concept, but still I had the feeling that I had to continue. Even the feedbacks where not good, so I could not know if I was on the right path. Another struggle was that I did not have any art curator or at least someone who could guide me on my process of creation, so it was a struggle being by my own and not having someone to ask for advices, but at least I grew so much that I am aware of the power of intuition.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with www.galascanvas.com – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I do not own a company, as I said before I am a fine artist. I’m still studying in Miami International University of Art and Design and graduate on September. what I had been doing is collaborations with other artists, I have been doing art pieces for almost two years and exhibit them whenever I can, including in a fundraise in Dominican Republic and a SOLO exhibition that is currently in Madrid, Spain. Also, when I graduate I want to find a job in company as a creative so I could place my art everywhere. My body of work can be limitless, I do not want people labeling me as a painter or photographer. I am a creative and I will create artistic content whenever I can!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Miami is a place where you can grow in any field you want, there is a lot of diversity here, so you can find yourself in a lot of environments. Also, Miami can turn overwhelming, many things are happening so quickly, people change so quickly, there is so much superficiality that people can get lost, but with time I concluded that this city has a major potential of growth because there is so much to teach and give. This is definitely a place where I want to expand my emotional knowledge.
