Meet Augie Lasseter of Front Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Augie Lasseter.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a co-founder of FRONT Management and have launched agencies in NYC and Miami prior to opening FRONT in 2006. I previously worked in Public Relations and Event Management focusing on real estate when the boom was in full swing here. I have enjoyed launching several startups and am an entrepreneur at heart. Although FRONT is my main focus these days, I also co-founded www.molarmuncher.com which is currently being sold around the world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
FRONT really happened organically. We saw an opportunity for an agency that was honest and actually paid their models which had become a rare thing in Miami. When we opened, the first two years were so great that we immediately grew and moved into our current space to accommodate the growth.

Our goal was to be small and have more of a family atmosphere which has really paid off. We have very loyal models and clients!

Please tell us about Front Management.
Our goal was to remain a boutique so we could really have the family feel which sets us apart. Our team has unmatched relationships in the Miami fashion scene which has allowed us to not only book great jobs in Miami but also huge national and international campaigns as well. The industry has changed a lot and being small and efficient has allowed us to navigate thru the pitfalls that many other agencies have over the past few years. So many have opened and closed or had to get rid of staff. We avoided those problems and have seen loyalty with our models and clients because of it. We have been known for our men’s board from day one, but over the past few years, we have been getting great reaction to some of the original supermodels we represent. Women will always be the bread and butter for us and they are the consistent talent we will continue nurture.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memories are of family vacations to a ranch in Colorado called C Lazy U. I didn’t know who Cindy Crawford was at the time, but her sister was my counselor and everyone there was like family. She actually taught me what “eye boogers” were! Cindy used to go to the ranch as well and actually shot an editorial for Italian Vogue there.
