Today we’d like to introduce you to Frankie Zerquera.
Frankie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Started as dish washer at Sakura Japanese restaurant and sushi bar in 1999. Soon was promoted to line cook, later sushi station and ended up a lead in the hot kitchen and a waiter at the 2nd location. I worked in all kinds of kitchens from Goldrush (strip club) to the Blue Moon world cuisine (sous chef) at the grand 1717 Bay Shore drive. Eventually managed @giginow Midtown and Bardot (manager, director of security) and went on to food and beverage director for Estefan Enterprise (Bongos Cuban cafe 3 locations, Larios, Costa del Este hotel) then along with my great friend Eric Denis owner of @004connec @evolvepaint and @wynwoodstation opened Boss Burger N Brew.
Has it been a smooth road?
With very little education it’s been a struggle to move up in the rankings in such a competitive industry. Nothing is given or easy to get. Every day is a struggle. Had to be patient and work hard to gain the right experience to open my own restaurant and that was just the beginning of the struggles.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are Boss Burger N Brew. We specialize in over the top never been done burgers. We provide only fresh never frozen ingredients. What sets us apart from other burger joints is the quality freshness and originality of every dish we put out. As a company we are most proud of all the noise we have made which continues to put our name in amazing places from @voyagemia to travel channel and festivals etc.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
This city is hard because of how much competition and skill there is in every crevasse or hidden spot in South Florida. Despite that this is a great city for this industry because of how many people are looking for new innovative foods. The only thing our city can do to improve is never stop creating and never stop the search for everything creative. I would recommend for anyone to start here because if you can make in Miami you can make it anywhere.
