Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Matyok.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a singer/songwriter performing a wide variety of cover and original music throughout South Florida. My styles range from classic rock to alternative, pop, country, reggae and more. I have been playing music for more than 20 years and have recorded multiple albums with several bands over the years. I now play music for a living and perform six days a week at hotels, restaurants, bars, and breweries from West Palm to The Keys. I mostly perform solo but I also play with a band called 30 Hertz. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Performing has never been easy. It’s a struggle to get into venues, maintain relationships, get publicity and more importantly to get paid. But now that I’ve carved a niche and understand what it is that I do well, I’ve been able to get enough consistent work to make this a viable career option.
What sets you apart from others?
I feel I bring a unique twist to songs and deliver them with energy and personality that people can relate to.
When you look back, what are you most proud of?
The day I was able to quit painting and play music full time was probably my proudest moment. After that, it was being hired to perform in The Bahamas.
