So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We began this journey to bring the future forward in 2014 and since day one we’ve been on a mission to create unbelievable software. Our experience has also taught us a thing or two about life; one of those things is that life’s too short! Getting a kick out of what we do is the key to our work, well-being and overall happiness. We also believe that success and happiness are contagious, that’s why we strive every single day to spread these values to our future makers, awesome customers, and trusted partners.
All of FOB’s founders are Colombian immigrants that made their way to Miami at different points of their lives to pursue bigger challenges and opportunities. Their experience and shared passion for innovation led them to start FOB, a technology company that creates solutions for a smarter home
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been an interesting road, to say the least. Miami is in the middle of a tech revolution that has opened the door for a lot of amazing companies but there is still a lot of work to do to get the city what it deserves.
We self-funded by selling development and digital marketing services so we had to double down to make sure we delivered for the clients while keeping our own production steady. This was our biggest challenge because it’s easy to lose your focus on your priorities when you’re splitting your time and resources between your clients and yourself but we kept true to our vision and saw it through.

FOB specializes in producing software that enhances people’s home experience. Our first product was VTR, an electronic voting platform that allows homeowners to vote on a crucial condo and homeowner association issues from any device anywhere in the world. A recent change in legislation made it possible for electronic voting to be implemented in these elections and FOB was at the forefront with one of only 3 legally compliant platforms a market that services more than 700k associations.
Electronic voting saves homeowners time and money and allows them to have much more control over their homes so we decided to go beyond this platform and develop other user-focused solutions that would really allow users to control their home experience with just a few clicks. This multi-app solution is called OWNR and features electronic voting, parking, package receiving, guest access, payments, open and private communications all under one simple and secure app.
We are firm believers in consumerism, every one of our solutions is created by and for users, that’s our secret sauce.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Miami is quickly becoming a global force to be reckoned with for tech development. Because we live in this amazing ‘melting pot’ of a city we get incredible talent from all over the world, this creates a unique cultural richness that results in amazing ideas. There are some hard-core academic opportunities for tech too, people like Wyncode, the Lab and the Ad School offer some of the best programs in the world so we’re also getting a lot of amazing homegrown talent. We’re in a privileged geographical locations for anyone trying to get into the Latin American market but beyond that, Miami is starting to become a global hub for tech.
