Meet Esteban Londono of Miami Hypnotherapist LLC in Downtown Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Esteban Londono.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Medellin Colombia. Growing up in the 80s in one of the world’s most dangerous cities due to Narco-terrorism was not easy. As a young boy, I was severely bullied because my interests were not playing soccer like the other boys my age. I really suffered and thought about taking my life several times. I was fortunate enough to have amazing teachers that taught me life skills and tools to keep going. Many lives, many masters by Brian Weiss, was one of the recommended reads that really shifted my perception and resonated with me at that time. I managed to graduate and realized that a family member suffered from alcoholism and how that severely affected me as a person. I suffered from rage and anger was the only way I knew how to cope. At this time, one of my best friends commit suicide and I had a complete breakdown. Searching for a new life, I moved to Miami, got married and eventually became a proud parent.

Dealing with addiction in one’s family was a toll. I was lost and depressed. I asked a friend for help and he recommended Alanon Which is a 12 step program for friends and family of addicts and alcoholics. Here was where I truly understood spirituality and the value of love as a transformational tool. More than 20 years have passed and I have been a mentor and a sponsor to the many that come to those meetings because they are hopeless, sick and suffering. I became a public school teacher and found that I was gifted at explaining concepts. Even though I taught for over 12 years, my passion was to help others. Not only was I effective but it came naturally to me. I had a great capacity to be empathetic. While I taught, I also volunteered in an amazing organization called Yes Institute, a nonprofit organization completely dedicated to helping to keep kids safe free of gender or orientation slurs. Something very dear to me due to my experience in my youth. I loved helping others and I was the go-to friend that everyone used as a therapist.

After many years and all my friends telling me that I should be doing that for a living… I became a reverend from The Academy of Spiritual awakening and a Neuro-Linguistic Programming Life Coach and slowly started to get clients and my new career took off. I then decided to study to be a hypnotist under the worldly renowned psychiatrist Dr. Brian Weiss. I loved how effective hypnosis was and quickly began to have amazing results with my clients. I was never satisfied with my skills and knowledge so I decided to study Hypnotherapy at The Institute of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy; the only school certified by the education department of Florida and got my own little office in the middle of Downtown Miami where I have been for some time now. Hypnotherapy is an amazing tool that helps me to empower others and change their limiting beliefs that keep them from achieving their goals.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Learning healthy life coping tools was the hardest thing. Learning self-care and self-love was the hardest thing to do while you are surrounded by alcoholic behaviors. Applying the spiritual principals took time and lots of effort. I had no option but to open my heart and do the work. Amends had to be made and taking responsibility for my actions became the most important objective. I had to apply everything I could teach in order to really be able to pass it on.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a hypnotherapist. Basically, I use hypnosis as a tool to create shifts in the emotions and the limiting beliefs we hold in the subconscious. Through various hypnotherapy modalities, I am able to help my clients gain clarity and perspective so that they feel empires to create the changes they want in their own life. I have more than 20 years of experience in providing self-care knowledge (alanon), I have a very effective way of explaining and teaching concepts and I love to work with children and am aware of their needs and situations (teaching for more than 13 years) and a very efficient way to speak to the subconscious (NLP) I speak Spanish, Portuguese and English so I’m able to work with most of the Miami community. I study underworld rebound author and psychiatrist Dr. Brian Weiss and studied in the only Hypnotherapy school that’s accredited by the Florida Department of Education.

I see that hypnotherapy is used more and more each year. Many more people are open and willing to try other options before taking medications or other time consuming or more expensive options. I see hypnosis used more and more combined with energy healing (Reiki) or acupuncture. I see more therapists and psychologist willing to work with Hypnotherapists together to achieve even greater and more powerful results. I believe that the next step is for the Hispanic community to start using it more and more. I also see the medical community hopefully embracing its many benefits as well.

What’s your outlook for the industry over the next 5-10 years?
I see hypnotherapy being used more and more for other applications. Clinically and it is my hope it becomes a great tool to reduce the many anxieties kids nowadays face with test taking, acceptance into new schools and unrealistic parent’s expectations. I see the Hispanic and Portuguese speaking community using it more and more here in Miami. I see therapists (psychologists and or acupuncturist collaborating with Hypnotherapists or even nutritionists as well.
