Today we’d like to introduce you to Enrique Vittorino.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a porter enthusiast, when I got to Miami, Pop’s Porter became my go-to beer. So, I used to order it all the time. Still do, actually. One day at a local tasting I met David Rodríguez, Missionary of Beer at Wynwood Brewing, and I just shared with him my love for the beer, to which he replied “good! We’re here celebrating our gold medal for Pop’s Porter at the GABF (Great American Beer Festival)” which was quite nice. After that, I decided to volunteer brewing beer, which got me a job in the production team, then the marketing department opened, I applied, and the rest is history! And lots of beers, quite frankly.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been quite real. We’ve had good times and then times that, to put it mildly, reminded us of the good times. Keeping up with the massive demand of La Rubia was, without a doubt, a challenge for us. Fortunately, and thanks to our strategic partnership with C.B.A. (Craft Brew Alliance), this is an inconvenience from the past.
Wynwood Brewing Company – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Well, we’re Miami’s first craft production brewery. I think consistency is a feature that we’re very proud of. People constantly fall in love with our beers, and we keep them happy by brewing carefully to deliver that flavor that they want on and on again. We want folks to enjoy Lock On, our dry hopped lager, in the taproom as much as in their favorite restaurant. Obviously winning gold medal at the G.A.B.F. (Great American Beer Festival) for Pop’s Porter in the Robust Porter category in 2014 was massive for us. It was a solid statement of that we actually brew what we love and we take it seriously. Incredible moment, really.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Many, actually. But the latest one, which was getting to work with The London Police to create a label for Barrel Aged Grand Pop’s, was definitely great.
