Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmanuella Fleurimont.
Emmanuella, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved to Miami Fl in August 2009 after I completed 5years of medical school at Universidad Tecnologica De Santiago (UTESA). 2 years later after taking my ESOL class I decided to move to Canada in for more opportunity to continue my medical career. Unfortunately nothing work. I decided to change career By pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Being a full-time student truly required all my time and energy. During that time, I was financially dependent of my parent who provided all the necessary needs in order for me to survive. In 2014, I moved back to Miami along with my best friend Johane started MJD Nutrition Club with only $900. I wanted to try something that I was passionate about. I started a nutritional program to help the my friends with their weight loss needs. Through this experience I realize there was a need in my community and I wanted to make a difference. One year later Shortly after MJD wellness started to operate and serve the community. If was not easy to begin but I can say it was definitely worth it.
If I am here today it is because of
1) God
2) My determination and drive
3) Support from my supportive parents, and my friends
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way.
My response to this would be yes and no
I can say yes because
1) God always provided for us even at the last minute
2) We see challenges as a learning process for our development to be a stronger non-profit
3) My circle has been a huge support that sustains the goals of the organization. This is included but is not limited to the Local government, social Media, Friends and Private/public organization
I can say no, it has not been easy for me. I have struggled financially in order to fund certain cost that has been required. I have had to work two jobs to help the organization. I have shedded tears, endure sleepless night and suffer to get the organization where I wanted it to be. Till this day, due to the lack of financial support, we can’t provide additional services, which is an unfortunate circumstance. MJD has been providing service for the pasts five years fully and functionally with the help of volunteers.

We are special because I believe that MJD is doing God’s work. We are helping people and we see their needs before we see are own. I am proud to see where we have come from and where we are now. We faced a lot of obstacles. Many people did not understand my dream and they did not understand my perspective. Today, a juice bar has now become a health care provider and it is only getting better from here. What can I say; we are blessed and highly favored. We are most definitely set apart from others, without them we would have never understood where we are now.
Special Thank you to: God, my supportive parent, Our Haitian Elected official, Board Members, Unstoppable volunteers, friends, sponsors, Haitian Media, HMI Promoter and Artist, and everyone who participate on the success of this organization.
