Domenico and Alessandro, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started the business at the beginning of 2013 – three young childhood friends with the dream of taking the Italian Gelato authenticity to the Us. Our artisan gelato is special because we make our own Gelato base daily with fresh ingredients. We do not use industrial bases whatsoever. Our secret lies in the meticulous search of the components used in our recipes. Some are imported from our homeland of Italy, and others from various regions of the world. We use pistachios from Bronte, Sicily; hazelnuts from Langhe, Piedmont; as well as Valrhona chocolate, which sources cocoa beans of the finest variety from a plantation in Venezuela. We serve our customers a healthier product by using low-fat milk, which does not contain artificial hormones or antibiotics.
We launched recently the Gelato-go franchising program and will soon have 9 more stores to be opened in mid 2018.
We currently have the highest Gelato quality in Miami.
Has it been a smooth road?
Miami itself is a big obstacle to any small business growth. The low professionalism of employees and people, in general, slows down the build-out process of the stores, and also affect the stability of the business.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Not at all. Too many retail businesses (especially in the food industry) open and close every year dramatically. We are starting a new huge operation in California: we believe that this market will be great for our product.
