Today we’d like to introduce you to Domenica Stanziola.

Domenica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Out of and during college, I worked as a buyer for Jessie Boutique (a GREAT women’s apparel store/high-end boutique with 3 locations…I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t ) where I became really familiar with the wholesale part of clothing development and retail market… being a buyer was so thrilling and I was so inspired by clothing and certain brands that I knew I would eventually start my own. The idea to start Domenica Domenica came when I realized how difficult it was for my friends to find proper pre-wedding soiree attire for themselves and their bridal parties, or “getting ready” robes. I noticed a huge market gap in bridal loungewear with little option between high and low end bridal robes and dressing gowns.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting something brand new, from scratch, does have its difficulty, particularly when it is something you’ve never done. Most entrepreneurs will hold the same truth. But once you have started, and have all your ducks lined up, the “road” becomes (or appears) much, much smoother. The right people show up at the right time for what it is you need to be done. Doors literally open up as your business outgrows its current stage onto the next one. The relationships you establish in the industry lead to other working relationships which result in more opportunity and general expansion. That has been my experience. My biggest struggles have been letting go of the things/people that no longer serve my business and staying organized and focused as the business grows.

Please tell us about Domenica Domenica.
Domenica Domenica is a women’s clothing line that specializes in robes and dressing gowns for brides and bridesmaids. We specialize in the ultimate “dress before the dress” for those pre-wedding getting ready moments and life… Our pieces have a certain versatility to them, they can be worn in the bridal suite, during a honeymoon, or on a regular Sunday Morning months/years after your wedding day. They can be gifted to your bridesmaids.

At this point, we are becoming known for our distinct designs. Our pieces differ from the classic body robes, and our proprietary print, Garden, cannot and will not be found elsewhere… it was developed in-house and printed locally.

I am most proud of the brand’s aesthetic. The harmonious execution of all these moving parts that ultimately come together when one of our Bride’s sends us her own wedding images/story. I am so moved by these women who invite us, literally, to partake in the most special day of their entire lives. It’s an incredible feeling.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Going to the stable/barn on a Sunday and riding ponies and playing for hours with my fellow-rider friends.

I also remember begging my mom to buy me bridal magazines in the check-out line and going home and choosing what dress I’d wear to own wedding. I was never one to dream about the wedding, but I did dream about the dress 🙂 Not much has changed.
