Today we’d like to introduce you to Detoya Jordan.
Detoya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a 32 year old, single mother and well known fashionista from the city of Pompano Beach Fl. Since the age of ten, I have been dressing up and studying magazines for the upcoming trends and latest styles. After winning the High School superlative of “Best Dressed” at Blanche Ely High school in 2005, more of my friends and family ran to me for fashion advice for special occasions like dates and even prom. This made me fall in love with the industry. I began to order items and sell out faster than I imagined, in 2017 I launched my website and quit my part time job. I stepped out on faith and took on my passion for fashion. With the support of my community, friends, and family I now have a blossoming boutique D House of Fashion. This store is located in pompano beach the city I was born in, my mission is to giving my fashion sense to my city for an affordable price.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a business or owning my boutique has not been a smooth road. Starting my business was hard for me because I didn’t come from a family of business owners and at the time I didn’t have any friends were business owners. So every day I would find myself on the internet googling things on how to start a business the right way, and different vendors to order products from. Just when I thought all that would be free it wasn’t and by me being a single mom, had just got out of a relationship with someone who used to spoil me I had to work two jobs, sell cupcakes and lemonade on the weekend with my friend because I was determined to start my business with my own money.

DHouseoffashion is a women’s retail clothing store that was inspired by my love for fashion. We are known for our high quality celebrity looks at an affordable price. I’m most proud of how my business is blossoming before my very eyes. What sets me apart from others is my eye for fashion.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plan is to start my own clothing line and have fashion shows all over the world. I’m looking forward to opening up my second location really soon.
