Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Stubbolo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dennis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Harvey Busch was the Chairperson of the Sunny Isles Beach Mayor’s Advisory Committee and in December of 2010, Harvey asked me to become the new Committee’s Chairman of the Senior Welfare Sub- Committee. I said yes and asked David Gartner, Nancy Leyton, Joe Masters and Commissioner Roslyn Brezin to join my sub-committee. In January 2011, we changed the name of our group to the Senior Action Committee. We gave our first presentation of our Mission Statement to the City Advisory Committee on January 26, 2011, and we had our first club meeting on March 10, 2011. We had around 80 seniors that attended this first meeting and by the end of the Season, we had over 240 members and we became the largest group in Sunny Isles Beach.
On August 13, 2013, I filed for our 501-c-3 corporation and we became a Non-Profit, Non-Political Corporation with the name SIB Social Seniors Events. On June 29, 2016, the former Mayor of Sunny Isles Beach, Norman S. Edelcup called me to have breakfast to go over joining forces with his Sunny Isles Beach Foundation and our SIB Social Seniors Events Corporation. I met with my board of Directors and we agreed to go with the former Mayor. Harvey & I changed the name of our group to Social Citizens of Southeast Florida.
In December 2017, the Former Mayor decided to give up his Foundation and give the bulk of the money into our Corporation and become a Board of Director in our group. We now along with the Mayor are in the office at 323 Sunny Isles Blvd. Unit #508, Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160.
We now have over 140 members and the following are the Board of Directors.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a smooth road because I have a passion for what I do to help people. I am very fortunate to have by my side, my wife Diane and Brooke Marshall, our Technical Consultant and person who sets up and works on our Website.
We Educate, Entertain & Socialize, so our members have a great time in all what we do.
Please tell us about Social Citizens of Southeast Florida.
The mission of the Social Citizens of Southeast Florida is to educate, promote, stimulate, inspire, support, communicate, develop and enrich the quality of life for our members and all who attend our meetings and trips. We encourage participation in activities, such as fine arts, amazing Broadway Theatre Shows, and Fantastic educational trips. We act as a resource to initiate tasks that will educate our members and bring communication between city and state government to inform our members of what is taking place in our community.
We strive to cultivate the highest possible level of achievement through passionate, inspirational and innovative contributions to every project that we partake in. We are committed to enriching and enhancing the lives of our Social Citizens and our entire community with all that we will accomplish.
Our goal is to make sure the Social Citizens of Southeast Florida have the most meaningful, enjoyable activities that we can provide them and at a minimal cost.
Our specialty lies in our monthly luncheons. The Broadway theatre shows and educational trips are all with luxury coach buses and all come with meals. We treat are members like family, that is what separates us apart from others.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing.
