Today we’d like to introduce you to Daze.
Daze, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am Daze, was born November 19, 1983, at Jackson memorial hospital. My father is Cuban and my mother is Nicaraguan. When My parents had separated I must have been somewhere around 3-4 years old. I lived with my mother and saw my father every other weekend growing up. I had seen all the struggles my mother had to go through being a single parent and doing the best that she could, both my parents provided me with the best of their abilities on raising me during economic struggles. and that’s a long story I can get into further detail some other time lol.
I grew up near Little Havana but had to move around certain areas of Miami due to financial issues and hard times. But, by the age of 13 is when we finally moved to Hialeah which is where I stay at now at the moment taking care of my mom ( as she did with me while growing up ). .I am well known for Barber, Painter, Graffiti Artist, Model, Photographer, Tattoo artist, Actor, Creative Director, Business Consultant, Marketing, etc plus more. but I like to consider myself to just be a well rounded passionate artist with many creative talents and crafts.
BARBER.
Growing up I never had the coolest or up to date best haircuts. I was getting my cuts from an old pops at a local neighborhood barbershop in Little Havana till the age of 11-12, and so when I was in middle school I had seen a few of my friends and the cool kids with THE FADES and I knew that my old school barber was not up to the times and did not have those skills on creating that popular haircut because it was from a more urban younger generation, so I took matters into my own hands and given the fact that my father and my stepmother had a hair salon I took it upon myself to explain and teach him how to execute THE FADE.
So I had gotten a few messed up haircuts being his Guinea Pig. So, I took the time and started applying the techniques onto myself cutting my own hair and from there I started cutting some of my friends and word spread in school and in the streets and so on and got to work at some of the most well known barbershops in our neighborhood here in Hialeah and word spread more into areas , celebrities, media, states etc because I also specialized in art so I would do freehanded art design shaved into the hair for competitions, street lifestyle, trends, events, and concerts such as Ultra, etc.
Been cutting hair for about 20-21 years or so give or take. and from there is what took me my next investing in all my other many talents and crafts such as photography, and tattooing since I am also well known for being almost having a full complete body suit covered in tattoos.
TATTOOS.
So growing up my father never really liked or was too fond of tattoos and he would always tell me not to get any tattoos and so I understood and respected his wishes, up until the age of 17-18 when I came across the work of one of my close homies ( tattoo artist ) that had incredible detail artwork and was able to create such art on the skin I went against my fathers words and being that I was an artist myself I ended up collecting a tattoo and offered my skin as canvas and from there the skin art addiction of collecting artwork from many artist before social media struck .
I flew to different states and connected with other like-minded individuals and artists that shared Similar interests as myself and create bonds and stories with them ad from there is where my skin diary stems from. Leading me to then take me to my next venture of modeling.
I Modeled for certain clotheslines, companies, magazines, features, interviews, tv shows, movies, music videos art pieces, paintings, novelas, soap operas, etc.
So photographers would just want to shoot me for my interesting look of massive amount of detailed tattoos, long dreaded hair and a long beard, ( was not your typical average looking guy ) but yet that alone caught some eyes and attention of me being free enough to express my uniqueness, I like to think of it as a LIMITED EDITION.
A ONE OF A KIND. Well at times some photographers didn’t know what they wanted to do with me for a shoot so I would have to create the looks for them basically direct the shoot. So that is where my next venture and hidden talent came to be about. PHOTOGRAPHY.
PHOTOGRAPHY.
So since I always had a huge infatuation with movies and cinema and had a creative eye for visions and art I would create my themes and portray certain images or direct so from there I was given tools to perfect that craft of photography and then capturing moments and photographing a variety of people connecting and them in there element. That is where I then took this art into another level.
And so from these is where I was able to then fund and create other avenues of my many hidden talents and I a
then now still cut hair and network both my photography and tattooing and my other skills , and vice versa on any task I am doing, if I am tattooing I also network and showcase my photography and I am able to meet and connect with soooo many people and continue to spread my many talents with everyone I encounter and of course through word of mouth as well and the work speaks for itself.
Due to all my many talents I also do branding and marketing for a few companies but my favorite out of all of them is the company HIGHMERICA. highmerica.com is an all-around healthy lifestyle CBD company that is trying to help support the lives for a healthier living while still providing a WELL CONNECTED LIFESTYLE.
There is so much more I can write but I think you’re going yo have to grab a snickers bar. it’s going to be a while. lol hahaha.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has been many struggles and will always continue to be struggles along the way, but of course, with every venture, there are sure to be a couple obstacles on the road, but what makes it best is how you overcome and get past them to move forward.
Please tell us more about your work.
I explained in last question to the most of my written ability, but I can say as a company I provide a wide variety of services with PASSION and I put my heart and soul into everything I do. and everything I do to provide for my family, as my mom did for me because at the end of this trip its all about your loved ones and what you represent.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The fact that I am able to do express all my talents in so many ways and also help and or assist those along the way having trouble on their journey. also the fact that I work hard on all my endeavors to provide for my family and well being.
