Today we’d like to introduce you to David Lesser.
David, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was living in New York City working 70 hours a week working in high end restaurants trying to build a name for myself. My single mom, my only parent was diagnosed with breast cancer so, I decided to move back to my hometown Miami, Florida. After interviewing at a few high end Miami restaurants, I decided I wanted to open my own business and be my own boss. Around the same time, my brother-in-law had just returned from a health and wellness camp, he has been struggling his whole life with overweight issues. It was then, I decided to help him maintain the weight he had lost by providing him with healthy home cooked meals that met his macros. It slowly escalated to all my in-laws and close friends asking me to meal prep for them. From there, it was friends of friends wanted me to meal prep for them, this is how Munch Thyme came into fruition.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like any business it’s been a bumpy road. No matter what anyone says starting a business from the ground up is never smooth. There are so many moving parts to this type of business, it’s not only about the execution of the food, it’s about sourcing the local ingredients, cooking, packaging, delivering and maintaining a staff.
Munch Thyme – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Munch Thyme is a farm to table meal plan delivery service. We offer three different meal plan types, traditional, Paleo and vegetarian all under 550 calories delivered right to your doorstep. We are the only meal plan company that has its own certified organic farm. We specialize in creating weekly menus based on seasonal ingredients. I’m proud that I am able to use my own resources, while helping other local farms and not using big corporate companies to purchase products. Munch Thyme is a proud member of Greener Fields Together, using sustainable suppliers all the way from the farm to the fork.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment is being able to see how Munch Thyme has made a difference in peoples lives. From customers meeting their weight loss goals to customers no longer suffering from health conditions. We receive multiple emails weekly about the differences we are making in peoples lives and that is truly what makes everything worth all the hard work.
