Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Blake.
Darren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out working in the funeral home. I began to do Funeral Programs for the funeral home I’m employed for. Once the word and my name were out, I began to design and print programs for different firms in the state of Florida and Out of State. I also do stationary for event planners. I’ve always had an eye for details and loved being around the decorating and set-up process/planning of events. I’ve worked with some amazing planners such as Jenice Stallings of Styles by Stallings, Ronica Taylor of Taylor Couture Creations, Heather Jones of Chic & Savy and many more. Seeing them in action and their ability to create luxury events, made me want to explore my gift of creativity. I wanted to branch out my Graphic Design Company and offer other services besides Graphic Designing & Printing and that’s how I started DB Kreative Xpressions, LLC, where we don’t limit ourselves to just one Gift (Graphic Design) but Event Planning and Design also.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I thank God for every bump in the road that causes me to be at the coast that I am now. In the beginning of the Graphic Design Business, I’m a Self-taught Graphic designer so I had to google and figure out things on my own. Some things I couldn’t do, so I couldn’t offer the service. I’m always doubting myself when I know that the gift that was given to me was nothing but a blessing from God. With the event planning side of the company, luckily, I work/worked with some amazing planners who guide and still are guiding me and showing me the rope of the Event Industry. It’s also is a learning process of learning the do’s and don’t.
Please tell us about DB Kreative Xpressions.
My company is a Graphic Design & Event Planning Company. I offer graphic design for Funerals, Weddings, Parties and I also offer Event Planning/Decorating Services. I’m known for exceeding clients’ expectations. I like to build a personal relationship with each family/client that I come in contact with. I love to go over and beyond to see my clients smile and walk in the room and become speechless. I’m very proud of the accomplishments thus far I’ve received and the many accomplishments that will come. I just started my Event Planning portion of the company and it’s really been doing great thus far.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from Childhood would be me acting like I was conducting funerals around the house with me playing as the funeral director and no one helping me. Let’s just say I had a lot of imaginary friends. lol
