Today we’d like to introduce you to Danna Alencar.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Danna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I never imagined I would begin a career as a DJ. Though, my obsession with music was instantly obvious to anyone who met me, I only ever saw myself working in the field of Psychology. My concert addiction began at an early age and because of it, I made some wonderful musician friends along the way. Claudio La Gamba, drummer of Hair of the Beast and Rammer, suggested one night that I DJ in between sets for a show. It just seemed like a fun idea at the time. I kept getting asked to play gigs and 6 years later, I have been DJing everything from fancy weddings to bike shows.
Has it been a smooth road?
As a mom of two boys (3 & 6), student, co-chair of a non profit organization and Behavioral Therapist during the day, it would be impossible for my career in DJing to have continued without the support of my partner Anthony Casella and our amazing sets of grandparents.
I’ve faced many obstacles as well being a female DJ and surprised looks as they see me load up and set up all my equipment myself. Despite it all, every single time the music starts, the people start smiling, relaxing and dancing it makes it all worth it!

An eclectic and wide range taste in music combined with a background in Psychology allows me to play the right music at appropriate times. Every event is unique and I find great joy in getting to know my customers and customizing the events soundtrack to reflect their expectations.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the pulse of the city! Always alive, beating strong and vibrantly.
I think we could all do with less traffic.
