Meet Daniela Moreno of Iron N Salt Blog

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Moreno.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My whole life, I wanted to work for a fashion magazine in New York. I took the plunge and moved to NYC when I was 18 to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology where I was there for two years before moving back to Miami after a shift of mentality. After moving to Madrid to do a semester abroad and studying marketing, I moved back to Miami and got a job working for a fashion agency where I represented clients in PR, content creation and events. In the midst of that, I began the creative venture that is today, Iron N Salt. This blog was first created by my best friend Valentina and myself as a way to express our interests and creativity but later became my personal style and beauty blog. I’m proud of what it is today but so excited to keep pushing and see where else it takes me.

Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not. When Valentina decided to not be a part of the blog anymore, I had a moment of self-doubt, not knowing if I would be able to keep going on my own because we always relied on each other for strengths that either of us lacked. She has skills I didn’t and vice versa. I think in hindsight everything happens for a reason and I’m very happy with the way things are going and I think believing in myself in times where I wanted to give up was a huge lesson for me. There are days where I wake up and it’s hard to stay motivated when working on my own but there’s always those days where the reward is so satisfying that it makes me keep going. I know that there will be so many more struggles to come but I have to remain consistent.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My blog is my personal space for creativity. I used to give myself rules of the type of content I had to create and now I just do whatever speaks to me in a moment. I want to build a community of people who trust what I’m sharing and know it’s one hundred percent authentic to me. I work with brands that I love and create content for them and share it on my platform for other people to discover. My blog is called Iron N Salt because I like the idea of bringing an industrial feel to Miami, hence “Iron” represents that industrial vibe and “Salt” is the representation of the beach. I love muted tones and a more simplistic and minimalistic approach to the Miami lifestyle, I think that’s what I’m known for. I’m most proud of always making quality a priority and not allowing myself to get lazy when it comes to the content creation aspect of the blog. I prioritize the visual part a lot and I try really hard for my photos to flow with one another. Also, I never work with a brand that I don’t identify with just for a paycheck. There are many opportunities that come my way of brands wanting to pay me for certain things, but I always say no if it’s not something that I feel aligns with my brand. I want that selectiveness to set me apart from others and hopefully gives me longevity.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love Miami for that exact reason, it’s an emerging city. I love being part of the movement of people starting out, experimenting with projects and associating myself with other young entrepreneurs. Everything in Miami is new and exciting and I love seeing the development of the city in terms of infrastructure, the arts, fashion and culinary scene. I loved living in New York but everything there is very established, whereas in Miami, every idea is fresh and has an exciting new beginning.
