Meet Daniela Gross of DG Photo Art & Design in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Gross.

Daniela, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was 24 years old, I decided to move from Berlin, Germany to South Florida without having ever visited the United States prior to. I fell in love with the ocean and beauty of Florida instantly.

It did not take long to find my passion for photography because of my love for nature. In my spare time, I thought myself how to operate the camera in manual mode, learn photoshop, create renditions for clients and how to create and design my website. Soon thereafter, I had friends ask me for prints of my work and then their friends.

Now, I am working with interior designers, hotels and private clients nationally. My work has been published in magazines such as Florida Design Magazine, Florida Decor and Naples Home & Design Magazine.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been an extremely rewarding experience to learn and grow from having your own business. With that came challenges, of course. You have to evolve and constantly learn and progress. If you stop or not give it your all, your business will suffer. I try to make as much time for my art as possible.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
Ten years ago, I started off with landscape photography since I love the ocean so much. However, I started to become more creative with abstract images, flash photography and more artistic figural abstracts in the past five years.

One series I am particularly proud of is the Aquatic Sensuality Series. My friends know that I love my high heels, so it seemed only appropriate to create a series of women wearing high heels in the pool. It is sensual, sexy and most definitely a conversation piece.

I specialize in large scale photography to achieve a maximum impact as well as color and size customization for clients. And I always offer free renditions of the artwork in clients’ homes. It truly helps to visualize how the end result will look like. Art is the expression of you without having to say a word.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally would define success in having found your true passion that also pays your bills. Enjoying what you do is key in being successful without the feel of “having to work”. It also translates to your work with clients. Once they see you not only know your industry but also are so enthusiastic about helping them find the right piece of art for them, they are just as excited as you are.
