Today we’d like to introduce you to Danie Gómez-Ortigoza.
Danie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been a nomad for a third of my life. Right before I moved from Stockholm to Miami Four years ago, I was asked by JC Agid to put together a delegation of Mexican women to represent my country at the Women’s Forum for Economy and Society. This delegation was headed by Salama Hayek. Being a part of it changed my life. I had the best conversations with these amazing women and learned that my machista culture didn’t define me. Later on, I had an opportunity to work with Glamour us a correspondent. I understood the power of Latin American Fashion, and traditions, and saw the powerful women fueling the industry, and wanted to learn more. Once I left Glamour, I started a journey of self-discovery on Instagram and my blog and connected with many like-minded people who want a little bit more out of this platform. At the moment I am about to launch the journey of a braid which is a line of scarves I call canvases, (because of the power they have to help you build your own reality), and other items that have made me stronger.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s never a smooth road for anyone. The greatest challenge is always your mind.
Please tell us about Journey of a Braid.
What sets me apart is my journey, and my willingness to share it with others.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started earlier.
