Meet Courtney Stohlton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Stohlton.

Courtney Stohlton began her ballet training at the age of three in San Jose, CA. She continued her training until 18, where she then received a full scholarship to the Ballet Program at the University of Utah. From there, she went on to dance professionally with many different companies, including Orlando Ballet, Texas Ballet Theater, Alabama Ballet, and The National Ballet of Puerto Rico. Courtney was in Puerto Rico when the Hurricane Maria hit, forcing her ballet company to fold. She had an evacuation flight to Miami. There, she auditioned for a residency cabaret show at the Faena Hotel Theater and landed the starring role as “The Ballerina.” She continued in the cabaret shows, also performing Burlesque, Contortion and Fire Dancing. She also started modeling, including underwater modeling and acting. Courtney currently dances with The Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami and now has her own business that customizes special performances for events in Miami and internationally.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was actually very difficult for me to suddenly transition into the modeling and cabaret industry when the hurricane hit. It was good in the end though, because it caused me to reflect and think about other ways I could utilize my ballet training. At this time I began my business and started exploring other options; modeling, underwater modeling, cabaret, etc.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Courtney Stohlton LLC was made to have a platform for people to have a customized performance. I perform, along with other performers, in accordance to what the client requests. I talk with the client to find out what kind of theme they want, music, costumes, performers, etc to help create the energy and results they are looking for. I truly enjoy helping people create their vision into reality.

What were you like growing up?
I enjoyed the outdoors, arts and hanging out with friends. When I realized my dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer, I became very dedicated to my ballet training. I did my high school online so I could train from 9-5 Monday-Saturday.
