Today we’d like to introduce you to Corbin Stacy.
A native of Fredericksburg, VA, Corbin fell in love with yoga over 15 years ago. Looking for a way to balance his rigorous schedule as a full time Inflight Crewmember at JetBlue Airways he stepped into Jimmy Barkan’s Vinyasa class at The Barkan Method of Fort Lauderdale. After a few weeks of practice he realized that Vinyasa Yoga was an element that he needed to add to his life. Yoga became an integral tool for Corbin to stay healthy in mind, body and spirit. He received his Yoga Teacher Certification through The Barkan Method of Fort Lauderdale in 2011 and strengthened his knowledge with Level II and Level III in consecutive teacher trainings. Blessed to have been able to continue his yoga education but realizing that so many of his yoga teacher friends, students and colleagues found it difficult to afford quality yoga training and education he felt compelled to create a scholarship program. NamaStacy Yoga Corporation® (www.namastacyyoga.org) a recognized 501c3 non-profit was created to support yoga teachers and students with continual learning and development in the yoga of their choice. Corbin is passionate about helping others reach their full potential and deeply committed to “paying it forward, one yogi at a time.”
Corbin lives in Pompano Beach, Florida. His diverse experience in martial arts, professional dance, acting, modeling, gymnastics, and cheerleading contribute to Corbin’s unique teaching style. Recognized for his unique ability to craft challenging and fun yoga classes he has created a partnership with various South Florida Yoga studios with guest teaching appearances, fundraising events, retreats and more. His own studio, yoga hOMe® (www.hotyogahome.com) opened October 7th of this year, and the Grand Opening was November 11th! Named a lululemon athletica of Boca Raton Town Center Store Ambassador, Manduka, Liquido & DanaLou Fit™ Ambassador, he uses his strong presence in the local South Florida Yoga Community to continue to expand the reach and contribution of NamaStacy Yoga Corporation®. Fifty scholarships have been awarded since December 2013 to local South Florida applicants and beyond. NamaStacy Yoga Corporation® became International this year, sending someone from the U.K. to a Thailand Teacher Training. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a completely “smooth road” for me, per say, but I will say it has all been well worth it! The growth opportunities that I have faced over the years would cause any normal human being to turn and run … fast! But somehow, someway, I’ve remained to stay in the game! I have faced enormous challenges switching careers as any individual would but I try to stay focused and remain humble. It seems to be working for me so far, as long as I continue to hold a space of gratitude as well. The rest I cannot comment on, lol!
NamaStacy Yoga Corporation® and yoga hOMe® – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I was named one of 75 most inspiring yoga teachers in America by Mantra Health Magazine in 2016. I am known for NamaStacy’s International success as a grant writer to Yoga practitioners and schools. We provide funding to Yoga Alliance recognized teacher training programs and annual scholarships to yoga schools. We create yoga teachers and continue their education. yoga hOMe® specifically is known to be NamaStacy Yoga Corporation’s® hOMe base studio for the nonprofit. We are also known as the hOMe of the SoundOFF™ Experience! This wireless headphone technology lets each attendee control their own volume and tune in to up to three channels of audio from DJs, emcees and/or video presentations. We will continuously create captivating events and yoga classes that can only be heard through our noise-isolating LED headphones. The SoundOFF™ Experience creates lasting impressions at outdoor events, corporate events, private parties, music festivals, trade shows, weddings, speaking engagements, guided group events and beyond as well. What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success, to me, is as simple as someone saying “thank you”! Don’t get me wrong, that is normally accompanied with “That class changed my entire mood!” or “Yoga has saved my life!”, but to witness the gratitude alone. That’s what’s up! Those are the moments and bench markers I’m looking for. If one person’s life has been impacted by the services we provide, then it is completely worth it! Then to watch the ripple effect transpire – that’s when it gets really good! That’s the pay it forward mentality we look for to know it’s actually worked!!!
