So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started by simply shaping and tinting the brows of friends and family for a few years until my sister suggested I start a career in microblading. I believe the brow shaping experience I acquired before my training truly helped me determine the shape and thickness each individual client needs in order to enhance their God given beauty.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The beauty industry can get “ugly” sometimes so it has definitely been challenging. I had to learn a lot of things on my own by doing a lot of reading and research because although the training I received was excellent, there’s way too much to cover in a relatively short period of time, especially when it comes to the entrepreneurial aspect. I also had a tough time getting out there when I first started but now most of my clients are referrals.
Please tell us about Miakoda Beauty.
Miakoda Beauty specializes in microblading but also offers other permanent makeup procedures such as eyeliner and various eyebrow services. We are known for tailoring our eyebrow enhancing procedures to each client, embracing their originality and beauty. I am mostly proud of our ability to connect with our clients and truly listen to their wishes and expectations so together we can come up with the best possible outcome. MKB uses sterile, one time use microblading tools because our clients’ safety and wellbeing is our number one priority.
Unfortunately, a good number of microblading specialists out there are not doing this. MKB uses a 90% disposable tray for all our microblading procedures.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Spending time with my family at our farm. I love animals and the outdoors so spending time at our farm gave me the opportunity to experience the best of both worlds.
