Meet Cheryl Balch of Radiant Skin of Boca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Balch.

Cheryl, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was working at a Spa in Boca for 4 1/2 years after moving from Rhode Island where I worked in a spa for 8 years. I moved to Florida to grow, and after 4 1/2 years, I knew it was time for me to venture on to my own business and business ideas. I went to E Spa for a massage and Sharon, the Owner, approached me and asked if I would like to rent a room in the spa.

I was looking at Salon Suites already, so I felt comfortable saying yes, I would be interested. She put a package together and emailed it to me. I knew she was professional and someone that I trusted to have a business relationship with. I named my business Radiant Skin of Boca.

After one year, I upgraded my room into a larger spot, and have been successful with the help of Sharon. When they say things are meant to be, they are right!!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the obstacles I’ve had in the 2 large salon/spas I worked at prior to E Spa, as they both had a large salon. It was more salon, and less spa, but it seemed to have worked. I felt that although they enjoyed their spa services, they would feel funny walking through a crowded salon after a facial or waxing.

E Spa does have 2 hair chairs that are Occupied by Its a Salon Thing, and one Nail Technician run by Nails by Marcy. Other than that it is more spa than Salon. It’s peaceful and friendly. We are down to earth and our clients feel comfortable coming to our location and enjoy their peaceful experience.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Radiant Skin of Boca located in E Spa – what should we know?
E Spa is staffed by professionals offering state of the art modalities. Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
When I lived in Rhode Island and I wanted to grow in my career, I started with fear and grew in to comfort with level-headed advice from Ethan Sholes. He was my voice of reason. My parents have been extremely supportive along with my entire family.

My good friend Michal Dildine was my mentor. She hired me at Bliss and soon after left to start her own business, It’s a Salon Thing, and we continued to speak and grew our friendship. Without her, I don’t know if I would have taken the leap. She gave me great advice and knew I had it in me.
