Cesar, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I came to the United States from Medellin, Colombia, we arrived with very little money with my mother and my sister. At a very early age, I knew I had a passion for hard work and dedication. Through my high school days, I always played sports including Football and Soccer, and also worked two jobs. Perseverance and hard work and respect for your family are the most important values that my mother taught me since I was young.
After high school, I went to Long Island, New York to play College Football at Hofstra University. However, after complications with the football program, my life took me through a different Route and finished my Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management at Florida Atlantic University. I had a great career in the Food and Beverage industry and worked in some amazing restaurants in Miami such as Crazy About You and Rusty Pelican. However, I knew my life had a bigger meaning and wanted to change people’s lives. In 2015, I decided to get my Real Estate License and take my career to the next level. I knew it was not going to be an easy journey, especially since I was working 60-70 hours in the restaurant while I get to learn the basics and getting to know the South Florida market. Throughout my whole life, I always implemented to values that my mother taught me which are perseverance and hard work.
In today’s world, I have been very fortunate to get support from my family. My career has taken a lot of ups and downs. I’ve had a lot of disappointments, and a lot of successful moments, However, in those down moments, I never gave up and I never quit and due to my hard work and my dedication to make an impact in my life. my career took a different meaning. My brand has taking off, getting the recognition from top producers in both New York and South Florida markets. and the goal is to continue to grow professionally and personally in both major cities.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. As mentioned earlier, when I started in the Real Estate business, I was working as a restaurant manager in a restaurant in Brickell. I worked an average of 60-7o hours a week including late-night shifts until 5:00 am and it was difficult to get to know the Real Estate business with very little time and resources. When I decided to dedicate 100% of my time to my business, I crossed a few challenges in the first two years, challenges that every entrepreneur will face as a new business owner. Lack of clients, lack of money, lack of resources, and working double the time. These challenges made me take alternative decisions to make ends meet, including serving tables and Uber driving. However, every single day, I listened to the words of a famous motivational speaker Les Brown: “It doesn’t matter how bad it is, or how bad it gets, I am going to make it.” Words that inspired me and did not let me quit to continue my journey. and my success. After experiencing several difficulties; I continue to work, and continue to find new ways to be successful, and decided to take several trips to Colombia and New York, I started to build key relationships and encounter wealthy business owners that heard my story and decided to give me an opportunity to work with them, and represent them in their real estate transactions. My challenges helped me be better, learn faster, and ultimately changed my life for the best.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I am a Real Estate Agent in South Florida and New York City with Douglas Elliman Real Estate. One of the most prestigious Real Estate firms in the country. I specialize in Residential Sales in both markets, representing both buyers and sellers, and also representing foreign investors. Douglas Elliman is an excellent company that specializes in luxury high-end real estate in major markets in the country including Florida, New York, and California.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career is receiving my license and entering the New York market a month ago, which represents the next step of my career which is to be able to continue to grow my business in both high-end markets and expand my brand around the country to ultimately deliver the best education and expertise to my clients to make their best business decisions.
