Today we’d like to introduce you to Celioni Sena.
Celioni, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started My Glitter Factory two years ago when my oldest daughter Mia wanted something different for her hair. I went to a local craft store and just roamed the isles looking for something that I could work with. I’ve always been very crafty and I enjoy the process. I came across glitter sheets and thought maybe this could work. Once I got home, I remember sitting at my kitchen table for hours just playing with materials and shapes. I finally made my first glitter bow and of course I called it the Mia bow. I now have over 15 bow designs and I name them after girls in my family. They range in size and shapes and I absolutely love each and every one of them.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been an amazing road but of course, I have had my bumps along the way. I am a wife and busy mom of three, two girls and a boy. So as you can imagine it’s a juggling act. When I first started two years ago, I still had my two youngest at home so it was very difficult to work during the day. I’m also a dance teacher in the afternoon so that wasn’t an option. I found myself working on bows and orders at night once the kids were asleep and the house was picked up. I’m a bit of a neat freak, lol. I would stay up till midnight most nights and sometimes till 2 am! It was crazy but well worth it. Once my two little ones started school I was able change my schedule because I now had some time to myself in the mornings. I’m now able to work on my bows during the days for about 3 hours a day a couple of hours each night. It’s still not enough time but I somehow make it all work!
I also face supply and demand issues because sometimes I can’t get enough material for the demand of my clients. I usually only make 3 to 4 bows of each design.
My Glitter Factory – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My Glitter Factory is a glitter, faux leather, and waterproof bow company. Specializing in unique, handmade hair bows. I am most proud of the brand that I have created. It has really taken off and doing amazingly and it’s something that I have done on my own. I am a control freak and take a lot of pride in each and every bow that goes out in My Glitter Factory bags. I don’t have any employees working for me yet but it’s something that I know I will have to think about very soon. What sets me apart from others is that my product is an excellent, well made and unique one. It has been specially designed by me and only me. It has its own name and cannot be replicated. In fact, each Glitter Factory bow has a GF logo stamp on the back or inside of the bow.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were just starting out?
Honesty, it’s been a beautiful journey. I wouldn’t change a thing.
