Meet Carlos Martinez Leon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Martinez Leon.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My story began in Venezuela when I was eight years old with the ninja turtles, from a very young age my father sat with me to draw them, my interest grew when I discovered that their names were inspired by the great masters of the Renaissance. I started to investigate their lives and their works. Over the years, that research took me to Florence Italy, where I specialized in painting at The Florence Academy of Art between 2007 and 2010. A few years after I finished my studies, I came to Miami to direct along with Elkin Canas and Milixa Moron, Chiaroscuro Atelier, an academic project for the United States and Latin America.

Please tell us about your art.
My work is the reflection of a constant process of internalization and self-knowledge. I am a figurative painter, and I mainly express myself in Oils. I seek to capture the essence of the things I have painted; my intention is always to deepen what I have in front of my eyes, trying to capture the emotional impression of every moment with each brush stroke. I would expect people to simply take a few minutes to contemplate my work. You should know that this is a process that is leading me to spiritualization, not only of my personal beliefs but also in the paintings to come.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Yes, being an artist is a lonely profession. Mainly because the artist needs silence to learn to know himself, to learn to listen to his creative impulse and to express his will in the technique and in the way, he considers most appropriate.

I think the best way to connect with other artists is to approach and say! Hello!

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My work is constantly displayed in Chiaroscuro Atelier, where I develop my personal projects, you can also visit my website and my social networks. www.martinezleon.com and Instagram: @cmartinezleon The best way to support any artist is investing and sharing his work.
