Today we’d like to introduce you to Carline Dorsainville.
Carline, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
At first, this was actually just a joke between my sister-in-law and me. We use to always joke around and say that one of us should take training so we can do each other’s lashes. Never in a million years did I think I would actually do the training and turn this hobby into something I love. I must admit this journey was very hard and on several occasions, I wanted to give up. When I found myself on YouTube day and night watching videos and always wanting to practice, that’s when I knew this was my passion. I became obsessed with doing lashes and would practice all the time. This is a never-ending journey. You learn new things everyday with each new client. In this industry, there is always change and evolvement and that’s what I love the most besides making my clients beautiful.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been smooth sailing to say the least. Like everyone else, I thought that lashing was so easy, at least it looked easy. Boy was I wrong. Lashing takes an enormous amount of patience and endless hours of practicing. You never stop learning and you are constantly practicing to perfect your craft. When volume started to become more popular, of course, I wanted to learn it so that I could offer it to my clients. Volume is when the lash artist creates a fan to place on one natural lash. It creates a fuller and fluffier look. Creating the fans was such a challenge for me. I’m sure all artists struggled with lashing but Volume is more detailed and you have to be precise. Volume lashing through me for a loop but I didn’t give up. I practiced and practiced until I got it right. It has become my favorite technique.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the PYT Lashes story. Tell us more about the business.
At PYT Lashes, I specialize in applying for Mink Lash Extensions. I also offer products such as lash trays, mink strips and lash shampoos. Soon I will also be providing Brow Services. I’ve been in business since 2017. The experience I provide as a lash artist is like no other and all my clients would attest to this. Whenever they visit another artist when I’m not available, they always tell me I’m definitely like no other. I take pride in my work and my business so I make sure I go above and beyond for every client. My clients are my family and that is what sets me apart from other artists.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In 5-10 years, I see this industry growing rapidly. It’s the new norm to get your lashes done. This industry isn’t going anywhere and it’s such an honor to be a part of it. The beauty industry is always changing for the better. The never-ending evolvement with new services and products will keep us Lash Artist around for years and years to come.
